HOUGHTON, Mich. – Ohio Dominican's women's tennis team started the 2013 season with its longest road trip of the year and came away with a 6-3 win at Michigan Tech on Friday.
The Panthers picked up a pair of doubles wins, as sophomore Regina Camberos (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and freshman Alejandra Gonzalez (Doral, Florida) earned an 8-4 victory at No. 2, while junior Anita Girizd (Ada, Serbia) and freshman Paula Rodriguez (Mostoles, Spain) took an 8-0 victory at third doubles.
Gonzalez came up with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 victory at third singles, and freshman Ana Pico (A Coruña, Spain) bounced back in three sets for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Camberos earned a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win in the fifth spot, and Rodriguez won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 to round out the Panther singles lineup.
Ohio Dominican remains on the road this weekend with a 10 a.m. match at Lake Superior State on Saturday.
