The Ohio Dominican women's tennis team finished their GLIAC season on Thursday afternoon at Panther Courts, defeating Walsh University 5-4.
Doubles play looked positive as the Panthers were competing well at each court early on. Walsh gained momentum on courts two and three, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Earning the lone point for ODU was Regina Camberos (Jr./San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and Gabriela Bowe (Fr./Freeport, Bahamas) on court one, 8-4.
Needing to win 4-of-6 courts the Panthers took to the singles courts looking to complete the come from behind win. Paula Rodriguez (So./Mostoles, Spain) earned the first singles point for ODU, winning 6-0, 6-0 on court six. Camberos earned the Panthers third point of the match, winning at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Ana Pico (So./A Corona, Spain) brought the Black and Gold within one point of the win, winning on court two, 6-3, 6-1. Bowe completed the comeback for ODU, winning a highly contested match at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3.
The Panthers will return to action on Friday, October 24th at the GLIAC Tournament. The opening round is set to begin at 6 p.m.
