The Ohio Dominican women's tennis team earned their second GLIAC win of the young season on Friday afternoon, defeating visiting Michigan Tech 6-3 at Panther Courts.
The Panthers earned 2-of-3 doubles points for the third consecutive match, helping build momentum for the remainder of the match. Earning points was Aline Mariano (Sr./Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Samanta Zambrano (Fr./Monterrey, Mexico) on court one, 9-8(3) and Krista Derry (Sr./Baltimore, OH) and Regina Camberos (Fr./San Luis Potosi, Mexico) on court three, 8-1.
In singles play, the depth of the Panthers came through as ODU was able to secure 4-of-6 singles courts in the conference win. Mariano, Camberos and Derry all earned the singles/doubles sweep, winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-1. Carla Leggett (Fr./Madrid, Spain) earned her second conference win of the season, with a solid 6-2, 6-2 win at #5 singles.
ODU returns to action tomorrow as they play host to Lake Superior State University at Panther Courts. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
