Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – Battling cold winds and rain, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team topped visiting Walsh by the score of 3-1 on Friday evening at Panther Field.
With the win, the Panthers move to 6-4-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the GLIAC, while the Cavaliers fall to 5-3-2 overall and 2-3-2 in conference action.
Sophomore Jordan Mazzi (Galena, Ohio) started the Panthers off after she scored the first goal of the game off a deflection in the 30:08 mark. However, shortly after in the 34th minute, the Cavaliers Jessie Gearhart tied the game at 1-1 when she too connected off a deflection.
Following the break, freshman Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, Ohio) hooked up with senior Jennifer Holton (Johnstown, Ohio) from 20 yards out for the second goal of the game.
In the 86th minute, junior Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio) crossed the ball to the five yard line to freshman Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) for the assurance goal.
The Panthers edged out the Cavaliers in shots, outshooting them 18-6, including a 9-2 edge in the second half.
Sophomore goalie Laura Clark (Lapeer, Ohio) collected three saves in the goal and improves her record to 6-4-2.
ODU return to action on Sunday, October 7 at Panther Field to host the Malone Pioneers for a 4:00 match.
