The Ohio Dominican women's tennis team looked to rebound from a tough loss Friday afternoon, welcoming Grand Valley State University to Panther Courts. GVSU ended any Panther momentum, taking the conference match 7-2.
Doubles again proved an early momentum gain for the visiting Lakers, as they were able to take 2-of-3 doubles points. Earning the lone doubles point for the Panthers was Sofia Espana-Perez (So./Mexico City, Mexico) and Aline Mariano (Jr./Sao Paulo, Brazil) on court one, 8-6.
In singles play, Espana-Perez was the only ODU point, taking court one in dominant fashion, 6-1, 6-1. On court two, Anita Girizd (Fr./Ada, Serbia) put on a valiant effort, dropping a tight 7-6 (3), 6-2 match.
The Panthers will conclude their regular season on Friday, October 14 as they will travel to Ashland, Ohio to play GLIAC rival Ashland University. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
