Box Score PHILIPPI, W. Va. - Ohio Dominican's volleyball team went to five sets for a second consecutive match and again came up on the short end, falling 3-2 (18-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-23, 9-15) to Alderson-Broaddus in a non-conference match Tuesday evening.
With the setback, ODU fell to 9-6, while the Battlers improved to 7-12.
Sophomore Tara Winner (Versailles, Ohio), who had set what was then a career-high with 11 kills against Alderson-Broaddus last season, eclipsed that mark with a new mark of 17 kills in 33 swings for a .485 attack percentage to lead the Panthers. Freshman Brianna Reder (Maineville, Ohio) also had a career-high with 12 kills, hitting .500 for the match, while senior Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) and freshman Caitlin Kusan (Westerville, Ohio) both tallied 10 kills.
Billing had a team-high 15 digs for eighth double-double of the fall, and Kusan and sophomore Emily Post (St. Henry, Ohio) both set career-highs with eight and 10 assists, respectively.
The Panthers were out-hit .289-.243 for the match as the Battlers also had four players finish with 10 or more kills, led by Victoria Morgan's 16 kills in 23 attacks. After ODU rallied to knot the match at two sets apiece with a 25-23 victory in the third set, Alderson-Broaddus registered 10 kills in just 15 attempts in the fifth set to take the win.
ODU returns to GLIAC action this weekend as the Panthers head to the Upper Peninsula for a 7 p.m. match Friday against Northern Michigan and a 4 p.m. match against Michigan Tech on Saturday.
