COLUMBUS, Ohio - Looking to carry over the momentum from last week's first GLIAC victory over Northern Michigan, Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team struggled from the opening tip to generate much offense as they suffered a 64-58 setback to non-conference foe, Ohio Valley (W. Va.), at Alumni Hall.

The Lady Scots never trailed as they jumped out to a 13-4 lead to open the game connecting on six of their first seven shot attempts. Ohio Valley stretched the lead to 18 on two occasions, the last with 1:13 remaining, as they forced the Panthers into 13 first half turnovers. Behind 16-of-29 (55.2 percent) shooting, the Lady Scots entered halftime with a 17-point advantage, 37-20.

The teams traded baskets for the first eight minutes of the second half, but OVU gradually extended their lead to the largest of the evening, 51-29, with 10:11 left to play. Five consecutive free throws, three by Summer Hale (Sr./Galena, OH) and two by Tracy Snider (Jr./Lancaster, OH) helped ODU to start chipping away at the deficit.

Trailing 53-38 at the 6:07 mark, three 3-pointers, two by Snider, and two Shelley Warren (Jr./Solon, OH) layups brought the Panthers to within nine with just over two minutes remaining. After the Lady Scots put the lead back over double digits, 63-50 at the 1:00 mark, Snider and Melissa Hersey (Sr./West Chester, OH) connected on back-to-back treys to pull within five, but it was too little, too late as OVU hung on for the road win.

Snider paced the Panthers with 11 points, her sixth double figure outing in the last seven games, while Warren finished with a season high 10 points and career high eight rebounds off the bench. Her eight boards helped propel ODU to a season-high 41 rebounds, including 14 on the offensive glass.

Shelby Way led Ohio Valley (7-2) with 16 bench points on 7-of-14 shooting, while Denae Beavers added 14 and Kendra Benedict had 11.

Looking to close their homestand with a victory, ODU (2-9, 2-3 home) hosts Hillsdale (8-2, 3-2 GLIAC) at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 6 in the second game of a Panther basketball doubleheader.
