CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team tipped off the 2010 season with an impressive 3-1 win (21-25, 25-20, 25-21, 30-28) on Tuesday at Cedarville University, marking the Panthers' fourth-straight victory over the Yellow Jackets.    

Junior outside hitter Rachel Billing (Anna, Ohio) posted a double-double with her 21 kills and 17 digs while hitting .319 for the match. Classmate Summer Hale (Galena, Ohio) displayed her versatility by recording 13 kills (.345 hitting percentage) and tallying 25 assists, and senior Elyse Mongillo (Columbiana, Ohio) finished with 19 digs and 25 assists.

Shifting from outside hitter to libero, junior Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati, Ohio; pictured) helped key ODU's defense with a team-best 30 digs.

"Cedarville is a tough team with a lot of big time hitters," said Sandy Rowley, ODU head coach. "Rachel and Summer really stepped up big for us, and our freshmen really held their own for it being their first collegiate matches. The fourth set was heart-stopping for us but we were able to pull off the win."

After hitting just .057 (11 kills, nine errors, 35 attempts) in the first set, the Panthers bounced back and finished with a .236 hitting percentage, including .314 (23 kills, seven errors, 51 attempts) in the deciding fourth set. Billing had nine kills on 14 attempts in the final set to help put away the Yellow Jackets, while Hale had six kills and 12 assists in the set.

The Panthers will play their next five matches at home, starting at 7 p.m. Friday against GLIAC foe Lake Superior State (Mich.). ODU will then face Northwood (Mich.) in another GLIAC match at 5 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will be played in Alumni Hall.
