TIFFIN, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team battled to their second tie in three games with a 1-1 draw in 2 OT against the Dragons on Friday afternoon.
The Panthers got on the board first at the 23:22 mark in the first half as Becky Williams (Jr./Parma Heights, OH;pictured), the Panthers leading goal scorer from a season ago, recorded her first goal of the season from three yards out on a cross from outside the box by fellow classmate Sierra Patterson (Brecksville, OH).
The lead was short lived however as Tiffin forward Shelly Rogers connected on her fourth goal of the year from five yards out in the 34th minute to knot the game at 1-1.
The game became a defensive battle as neither team could find the back of the net, resulting in the 1-1 draw.
Through seven games this season, ODU (4-1-2) has had five different goal scorers and allowed just two opponent scores.
Patterson's team leading second assist was the 19th of her career, tying her with Mollie Newman (2001-02) for the ODU women's soccer all-time mark.
The Panthers, now 2-1-2 in GLIAC play, continue their road swing as they head to South Division leader Findlay (4-1-2, 4-1-0 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Oilers at DeHaven Field. Tiffin (4-3-1, 3-2-1 GLIAC) has a break between games before hosting Findlay on Sunday, Oct. 3.
