COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team took to the road Monday evening for their final regular season game against the Blue Knights of Urbana University, but could not come away with the victory, falling 72-48. The Panthers defeated the Blue Knights at home on a miraculous 4-point play back in January, but could not produce the same heroics as they lost for only the third time in their last 13 contests.
It was all Urbana to open the game as the Blue Knights (16-10) grabbed a 20-15 lead midway through the opening half. ODU (15-10) cut the deficit to two points with just under seven minutes in the half, but Urbana answered with 10-3 run to extend the lead to 30-21 at the 2:36 mark. The Blue Knights pushed their lead to eleven points, but a Tracy Snider (So./Lancaster, OH) three pointer with eight seconds to go sent the Panthers into the break down, 36-28.
The Panthers kept the game close in the opening minutes of the second half, but Urbana began to pull away stretching the lead to 13 at the 14:55 mark and eventually 20 with nine minutes remaining in the game. ODU's struggles continued as the Blue Knights pushed the lead to 67-41 with under five minutes to go as the Panthers eventually fell to their former AMC foe, 72-48.
Snider paced the Panthers with 11 points while Summer Hale (Jr./Galena, OH) chipped in with 10 points in the defeat.
Urbana was led by Ashley Falknor and Andrea Vogel, both finishing with 15 points.
The women will begin preparations for the upcoming Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) tournament in Gary, Indiana. ODU opens their post season quest on Friday against Johnson and Wales (CO) at 4 p.m. (CST)
