Panthers Rally Twice, Tie Findlay 2-2 in 2 OT

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team rallied twice after trailing on two separate occasions to Findlay on Sunday afternoon at Panther Field, holding on for a 2-2 draw in double overtime.

The quick turnaround from Friday evening's physical game against Tiffin showed its effects in the early going as the Oilers struck first at the 33:12 mark in the first half when Amanda Bachmayer connected on a rebound off a shot by teammate Sarah Silone.

The halftime break allowed the girls the opportunity they needed to rejuvenate their legs. Just over four minutes into the second, Kirsten Hoy (So./Pickerington, OH) scored her fourth goal of the season in front of the net off a perfectly placed cross by Sierra Patterson (Jr./Brecksville, OH) to knot the score at 1-1.

Findlay struck again, recapturing the lead in the 57th minute as Megan Gallaway dropped the ball off to Emily Beddoes who would not miss from 10 yards out.

Just as the fans settled back in their seats, ODU countered with the equalizing score 16 seconds later as Patterson took a Marie Fudacz (Jr./Toledo, OH) pass up the middle and drilled her third goal of the season from about 13 yards away.

The Panthers continued to apply the pressure offensively through the rest of regulation and extra sessions, but could not get a good look at goal due to countless tight offside calls. Of their 11 total offside infractions, eight came within the last 15 minutes of regulation and overtime.

"It definitely was not for a lack of effort today. I am extremely proud of the girls and the way they came out and battled today," stated head coach Jonathan Meade. "Friday's game against Tiffin took a lot out of us and having some girls feeling under the weather made things even tougher."

ODU (8-3-3; 4-3-3 GLIAC) will look to make another run towards the top of the South Division standings this Friday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. when they travel to Ashland.
