Hot Shooting Marauders Upend Panthers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team couldn't overcome a red hot Central State University team that shot a blistering 53 percent from the field as they fell, 83-56, to the Marauders. Central State has won five in a row including Thursday night's game with the Panthers at Beacom-Lewis Gym in Wilberforce, Ohio.

ODU jumped out to an early lead in the non-conference affair thanks to a pair of triples from John Trew (So./Barberton, OH; pictured) and Adriene Rodriguez (Sr./Lorain, OH), but the Marauders found the stroke mid-way through the first half. Central State picked up the pressure and rattled off eight straight points to take the lead and took a 14 point lead into the intermission.

Ohio Dominican battled back to within 11 points early in the second half, but thanks to a 15-3 run with 10:12 left in regulation CSU built their lead to a commanding 23-point's. Central State continued their hot shooting performance as they connected on 53 percent from the field and out rebounded the smaller Panthers squad, 42-29.

The Panthers were led by Trew and Rodriguez with a team high 12 points apiece in the loss. Anthony Passley of Central State led all scorers with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Cole Prophet chipped in with 14 points for the Marauders.

Ohio Dominican will look to bounce back on Tuesday, January 19th as they return to Alumni Hall to take on former AMC rival Urbana University. Tip-off between the Panthers and Blue Knights is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
