Panthers Reach AMC Tournament Final
CEDARVILLE, Ohio– The No. 1 seeded Ohio Dominican University women's tennis team dispelled Cedarville University , 5-0 today to advance to the final of the American Mideast Conference Tournament. The Panthers advanced to play No. 2 seed Walsh University in Friday's final.
The Panthers opened the match sweeping all three doubles points. Securing doubles points for the Panthers was Katie Evans (Hilliard, OH) and Kate Rodgers (Milford, OH) at the number one position by the score of 8-4, Mari Monaco (Port Clinton, OH) and Emily Sampsel (Marysville, OH) on court two, 8-3 and Amanda Hollenbaugh (Reynoldsburg, OH) and Ruchika Alahakoon (Colombo, Sri Lanka) on court three, 8-2.
In singles play, ODU claimed two singles courts, earning their fifth point and the tournament victory. Earning singles points for the Panthers was Evans on court two, 6-2, 6-3 and Katie Strancar (Canton, OH) on court six, 7-5, 6-3.
The Panthers will return to action on Friday, May 1st when they will play Walsh University in the AMC Tournament Final. The match will be play at the Springfield Racquet Club at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to the NAIA National Tournament.
