Lake Erie Completes Sweep of Panthers

COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team dropped their third straight and Lake Erie College completed the season sweep of the Panthers with a 78-68 victory on Tuesday night in Alumni Hall.   Lake Erie previously beat ODU on December 16th in Painesville , Ohio .

Ohio Dominican took their only lead of the game on their first possession when Bryan West (Coshocton, OH) nailed a three pointer just seconds into the opening half.   West finished the night with 12 points and after his first bucket became the 20th player in school history to join the 1,000 point club.   Lake Erie took control early as their swarming defense forced the host Panthers into 11 first half turnovers and another poor shooting performance.

ODU's shooting troubles continued in the second half as they tried to climb back into the game.   The Panthers managed to cut the lead to five points midway through the second half thanks to two big 3-pointers from Jim McCurdy (Columbus, OH).   McCurdy came off the bench to score nine points in the game all from behind the 3-point line.

Lake Erie quickly answered and extended their lead back to double digits as they increased their lead to 11 points.   Over the next four minutes the Storm built their largest lead of the game at 16 points with just over five minutes to play.   ODU had one more run in them to get to within eight points, but were not able to get any closer as they lost the non-conference showdown.

Leading the way for the Panthers was senior Donald Suel (Columbus, OH) who scored a quiet 17 points.   David Millaud (Fayetteville, GA) also finished the night in double figures coming off the bench to score 10 points.

Derrick Thornton led three players in double figures for the Storm with a game high 19 points.   Rick Leasure finished with 13 points and John Dickinson scored 10 in the victory.

ODU will return to action this Saturday in their regular season home finale as they welcome Malone University to Alumni Hall for a conference doubleheader.   Tip-off for the women's game is set for 2 p.m. , followed by the men at 4 p.m.
