COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team snapped a three game skid on Tuesday evening in Alumni Hall as a trio of seniors came up big for the Panthers in the 69-58 victory over Shawnee State University . With the win, ODU improves to 10-11 overall and 3-3 in the conference, while Shawnee State falls to 7-13 and 1-4.
ODU fell behind early as Shawnee State jumped out to a quick first half lead. The Panthers were able to battle back, but a 10-to-2 run by Shawnee State pushed the visitors lead to six points mid-way through the opening 20-minutes. Ohio Dominican senior forward Bryan West (Coshocton, OH) kept the Panthers in the game early as he scored 12 of his 19 points in the opening half. The Panthers battled back late and knotted the game at 31 heading into the half time break.
The Panthers opened the second stanza with a 3-pointer from West and continued to pour it on early as fellow senior Shawn Steward (Reynoldsburg, OH) scored back-to-back buckets and recorded three of his team high four blocks in the second half. Joining the trio of seniors was Donald Suel (Columbus, OH) who scored a game high 20 points.
West recorded his eighth double-double of the year adding 14 rebounds to his 19 points. Steward added six points and six rebounds for the Panthers in the conference victory.
Shawnee State 's Justin Patrick led three players in double figures with 19 points. Aaron Pennington and Timothy Russell added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
ODU will return to action this Saturday, January 24th as they return to the road to face the Red Storm of the University of Rio Grande . Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
