Panthers Hold Off Yellow Jackets, Earn 58-53 Conference Win

COLUMBUS, OH - In celebration of Faculty and Student-Athlete Night, the (9–12) Ohio Dominican women's basketball team welcomed the (8–13) Cedarville Yellow Jackets to Alumni Hall for a must-win conference matchup. The Panthers carried momentum into the week and secured a 58–53 victory after four quarters of play.

Top Performers
Meghan Mayotte led the Panthers in scoring, posting 15 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting performance. Forward Jenna Shackleford was strong in the paint, contributing 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting across 35 minutes. Senior Macy Chapman added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting and shined defensively, recording six steals as ODU forced 20 total turnovers.

Quarter Breakdown
Ohio Dominican opened the first quarter firing on all cylinders, scoring 19 points while shooting 7-of-11 from the field (63.6%). The Panthers were equally sharp from beyond the arc, hitting 3-of-6 attempts, and went a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Cedarville, meanwhile, shot 38.5% from the field and went scoreless from three, finishing the quarter with 12 points.

Both teams cooled off in the second quarter. Cedarville shot 30% from the field, while ODU dropped to 45.5%, knocking down 5-of-11 shots and 1-of-3 from deep. The Panthers outscored the Yellow Jackets 11–8 in the quarter to take a 30–20 lead into halftime. ODU controlled the paint with 16 points and forced Cedarville into eight first-half turnovers.

Coming out of halftime, the teams traded baskets in a closely contested third quarter. Ohio Dominican totaled 14 points to Cedarville's 13, shooting 5-of-13 from the field while capitalizing at the free-throw line with 4-of-6 shooting. Cedarville went 5-of-15 from the field as the Panthers entered the final frame ahead, 44–33.

The fourth quarter featured the most competitive play of the night. Cedarville poured in 20 points compared to ODU's 14, shooting 36.8% from the field to the Panthers' 38.5%. Despite a late rally, the Yellow Jackets were unable to overcome Ohio Dominican's early 13-point lead with 9:24 remaining. The Panthers held strong to secure their fourth conference win of the season, 58–53.
