TIFFIN, OH - After a strong home win over the Oilers last Saturday, the Panthers returned to action tonight against the Tiffin Dragons inside the Gillmor Student Center. In a thrilling 18-point comeback, Ohio Dominican edged the Dragons 55–54 on their home court.
Top Performers
In the post, Jenna Shackleford led the Black and Gold with 17 points, including the go-ahead free throw with one second remaining. She also added three rebounds and one block while shooting 4-of-7 from the field. Senior Macy Chapman contributed nine points, along with two steals, two assists, and three rebounds. Freshman Eve Schwemley matched her with nine points and added two rebounds and three steals.
Quarter Breakdown
Tiffin controlled the opening quarter, jumping out to an 11–0 run. ODU struggled offensively, shooting 2-of-9 (22%) and scoring just six points compared to Tiffin's 14. The Panthers found a better rhythm in the second quarter, hitting four field goals and going a perfect 100% from the free-throw line, while holding the Dragons to 33% shooting. Still, Tiffin carried a 29–19 lead into halftime.
Both teams battled through shooting struggles in the third quarter, with ODU scoring 10 points and Tiffin adding 11 to extend its lead to 40–29 heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Panthers. ODU shot 46.2% from the field and 72% from the free-throw line. Trailing by 16 with eight minutes remaining, the Panthers locked in defensively and chipped away at the deficit with an 11–0 run, cutting the score to 50–43 with five minutes left. At the 2:30 mark, a Chapman free throw brought ODU within one. Moments later, Shackleford knocked down two free throws to give the Panthers their first lead of the night, 53–52. Fouled with one second remaining, Shackleford calmly sank the game-winning free throw, and Tiffin was unable to answer.
The victory marks the Panthers' 12th win of the season and their seventh in conference play.
