SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS - Coming back for action on day two of their Illinois trip after picking up two wins on Thursday, the Ohio Dominican softball team faced the Davenport Panthers and the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars again to wrap up the weekend. They opened the day with another victory over the Davenport Panthers, this time earning a 7–3 win in seven innings.
Game One vs. Davenport (W, 7-3)
In the circle, Emma Grau collected her second win of the trip, throwing a complete game. She allowed five hits and three runs while striking out two, needing just 100 pitches to finish the job.
At the plate, three Panthers recorded multi-hit performances. Saadie Maysonet went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Addie Triplett finished 2-for-4 with a run, while Avery Mueller added two hits, a run, and an RBI. Erica Massey, Olivia Congleton — who launched a home run — and Kendrick Sterling each drove in two runs.
Davenport struck first with an RBI single in the third inning. Ohio Dominican answered in the top of the fourth when Congleton delivered a two-run RBI home run to score Triplett and shift the momentum. Lilly Irvine followed with a triple and later crossed the plate on Mueller's single to left. The Panthers continued to build their lead with a walk from Sterling, a single by Maysonet, and a base-clearing single from Massey to take a 5–1 advantage.
Davenport responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth and added another in the sixth to cut the deficit to 5–3. However, Ohio Dominican secured the win in the top of the seventh, as Sterling ripped a two-run double to provide insurance and seal the 7–3 victory — their third win on the weekend.
Game Two vs. Illinois-Springfield (L, 1-0, extra innings)
The second game of the day featured a pitcher's duel that extended into extra innings, with the Prairie Stars edging out a 1–0 victory. Despite the loss, the Panthers outhit the Prairie Stars, 5–4.
