SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS - Taking their second trip of the season, the Ohio Dominican softball team earned their first wins, defeating Davenport 4-0 in the opener and following with a victory over Illinois Springfield, 10-5.
Game One vs. Davenport (W, 4-0)
In the first game, Alyvia Lawrentz secured her first win as a Panther, pitching a complete seven-inning shutout. She allowed just three hits with no runs or errors and recorded seven strikeouts across 24 at-bats faced.
Two players were perfect at the plate. Hannah Plymale, serving as the designated player, went 2-for-2 with two hits and a run scored. Second baseman Kendrick Sterling also finished 2-for-2, tallying two hits and an RBI. Lilah Flores added two hits in three at-bats and drove in a run.
The Panthers opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Sterling delivered a two-out double to bring Lilly Irvine home for a 1-0 lead.
Ohio Dominican extended its advantage in the fifth. Sterling sparked the inning with another double to left field. Saadie Maysonet then reached on a throwing error, allowing pinch runner Evan Platfoot to score. Flores followed with a double to left, plating Maysonet and pushing the lead to 3-0.
The final run came in the sixth. Plymale led off with a single, stole second, advanced on a wild pitch, and later scored on another wild pitch to seal the 4-0 victory.
Game Two vs. Illinois-Springfield (W, 10-5)
By their second outing of the day, the Panthers carried their momentum, defeating the (8-4) Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars, 10-5.
Sophomore Emma Grau earned her first win of the season, pitching five innings, allowing five hits and five runs, and striking out two. Alyvia Lawrentz made her second pitching appearance of the day, tossing two innings with one hit and two strikeouts. Offensively, the Panthers tallied 10 runs on 16 hits from 33 at-bats. Erica Massey led the charge with four hits in five at-bats, scoring two runs and driving in two RBIs. Avery Mueller contributed three hits, two runs, and one RBI, while Kendrick Sterling matched her with three hits, one run, and one RBI. Addie Triplett went 2-for-2, scoring a run and driving in one RBI.
The Panthers struck first in the opening inning. Lilah Flores delivered an RBI single up the middle, scoring Massey from her leadoff triple. The Prairie Stars responded in the bottom half with an RBI single of their own. By the third inning, Ohio Dominican added three more runs on four hits. Massey singled to start the inning, followed by Triplett's RBI double and an RBI double from Lilly Irvine. Avery Mueller capped the scoring with a single to center, scoring Irvine and giving the Panthers a 4-1 lead.
In the fifth, the Panthers erupted for four more runs on four hits. Olivia Congleton opened with a single, and Lilly Irvine's RBI double scored pinch-runner Hannah Plymale. Sterling's single drove in Irvine for a 6-1 lead. Later in the inning, Sterling scored on an error after Mueller crossed home for an 8-1 advantage. The Prairie Stars answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and added another in the sixth on a hit batter, closing the gap to 8-5.
The Panthers put the game away in the top of the seventh, scoring two insurance runs on three hits. Massey's RBI single scored Platfoot and Mueller, following earlier hits by Mueller and Sterling to start the inning. Ohio Dominican secured their second win of the day, 10-5, marking their second victory of the season.

The team will conclude their Illinois trip tomorrow with two games: an 11 a.m. matchup against Davenport and a 1 p.m. contest against the Prairie Stars at Scheels Sports Park.
