COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican volleyball team wrapped up their weekend play with a dominant performance against the Kentucky Wesleyan Purple Panthers, securing a 3-0 sweep through a strong all-around team effort. The victory marks Ohio Dominican's third win in G-MAC play and their eighth overall this season.Â
Several Panthers delivered standout performances. Setter Saige Avery led the way with 23 assists, seven digs, and one service ace. She also achieved a major career milestone, surpassing 2,000 career assists during the second set. Freshman Logan Rubel spearheaded the offense with 10 kills, followed by senior Ashley Aselage, who contributed eight kills and one block. Senior Alyx Snyder was exceptional at the service line, tallying five aces—four of them in a single series. At the net, Ava Horn anchored the defense with five blocks.Â
ODU came out strong in the opening set, launching a five-point run that sparked a 14-8 lead. With Jenna Peters adding a seven-point service run, the Black and Gold Panthers easily claimed the first set, 25-11.Â
The second set posed more of a challenge, but Ohio Dominican maintained control. They opened with a 12-5 lead, though Kentucky Wesleyan closed the gap to 17-13 behind several powerful kills from Tessa-Jo Allen. However, Logan Rubel responded with a five-point service run, helping secure the second set, 25-17.Â
The third set was all ODU, as they dominated with a 12-2 run out of the break. Saige Avery then sealed the deal, firing off five straight points from the service line to complete the sweep. The Panthers closed out the final set with authority, 25-9.Â
Next up, Ohio Dominican will travel to Painesville, Ohio, to face Lake Erie on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on September 30. Â
