COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican University athletic department announced a new Director of Compliance on Thursday (July 10).

As announced by Jeff Blair, the Ohio Dominican Athletic Director, Kirby Smith joins the Panthers athletic department following the retirement of Associate AD/Director of Compliance Sandy Rowley last month.

"We are thrilled to have Kirby Smith join our staff at Ohio Dominican as our new Director of Compliance," said Blair. "Her experience in compliance will make her a tremendous asset to the Ohio Dominican athletic department and our teams."

Smith spent the last three years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Eastern Kentucky University. Smith worked to oversee compliance of NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference and EKU policies and procedures. 

"I am very excited to join the Ohio Dominican University athletic department," shared Smith. "I want to thank Jeff Blair, the hiring committee, and the ODU community for welcoming me into the ODU Athletics family and making me feel at home immediately. I am looking forward to diving in and getting to work."

She graduated in 2022 with her Juris Doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Law. Smith earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Criminal Justice emphasis and a Minor in Forensic Studies from McKendree University in 2019. She was a four-year track and field student-athlete for the Bearcats. 

While pursuing her law degree, she was a Compliance Intern at both Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois Universities.
