Shackleford Grabs Double-Double in Loss at Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, OH - The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team traveled to Pepper Pike for a 2 PM G-MAC matchup against the Ursuline Arrows. After four quarters of play, the Panthers fell to the Arrows with a final score of 71-57. 

Jenna Shackleford led the charge for the Black and Gold, recording a double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, one block, and two assists. Sarah Ochs followed closely behind, contributing 16 points, six steals, and two assists. Logan Pride also made an impact, scoring eight points in the paint and collecting four rebounds. 

As a team, ODU shot 36.7% from the field, making 22 of their 60 attempts. From three-point range, they connected on 33.3% of their shots while converting 8 of 11 free throws. 

The Panthers tallied 32 points in the paint and 15 points from their bench. They also capitalized on Ursuline's mistakes, scoring 15 points off turnovers and securing nine second-chance points. 

First Half

Ursuline started the game strong, shooting an impressive 58.33% from the field by making 7 of 12 attempts. In contrast, ODU struggled early, shooting just 14.29% overall and failing to convert any three-point attempts. Ursuline knocked down one three-pointer and a pair of free throws to take a 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

In the second quarter, the Arrows maintained their efficiency, hitting 6 of 11 shots (54.55%) and 57.14% from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, ODU improved offensively, shooting 46.15% from the field, making 2 of 4 three-point attempts, and going 3 for 4 at the free-throw line. At halftime, Ursuline held a 35-24 advantage. 

Second Half

After the break, Ursuline continued to control the game, outshooting ODU with a 35.29% field goal percentage compared to the Panthers' 28.57%. The Arrows' defensive efforts limited ODU to just 10 points in the third quarter while they added 16 to their total. 

Ohio Dominican put up a strong fight in the final quarter, outscoring Ursuline, but it wasn't enough to close the gap. The Panthers had their best shooting performance in the fourth, going 10 for 19 (52.6%) from the field and 2 for 3 from three-point range. However, Ursuline responded with a 46.15% shooting percentage, making 2 of 4 three-pointers and sinking 6 of 10 crucial free throws to seal the 71-57 victory.
