YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers indoor track and field team opened the 2025-26 season at the Youngstown State Icebreaker on Friday (Dec. 5) at the Watson & Tressel Training Site.
A pair of school records fell in the first meet of the season with 18 personal bests reached across nine different events.
3rd Place Finish
- Merrick Shorter: School record for the 5K at 14:56.05, breaking his own mark
4th Place Finish
- Virtner Crews III: School record in the 60 meters with a 6.80 second time in the finals after an 6.88 second mark in the prelims
- His 6.88 second prelim time was 6th fastest in program history
6th Place Finish
- Eayuel Gebrtsadik: Personal best of 15:02.67 in the 5000 meters for the 2nd fastest time in school history
8th Place Finish

- Emma Kelbley: 12th place in the high jump at 1.39 meters; 30.76 seconds in her 200 meter debut (87th place)
- Virtner Crews III: 19th place for the 200 meters at 22.61 seconds (PR)
- Ismael Obas: 20th place in the 60 meter prelims at 7.02 seconds; 26th place in the 200 meters with a 22.83 second time
- Matthew Thomas: 7.23 second PR for the 60 meters in qualifying (24th fastest); 55th place (23.70 second PR) in 200 meters
- Shyla Pemberton: 25th fastest for 60 meters qualifying at 8.21 seconds; 27.35 seconds in the 200 meters in 42nd place
- Anna Blackstone: 5:56.89 PR time in the mile for 25th place
- Kiera Archer: PR of 8.22 seconds in 60 meters qualifying, 26th fastest; 26.85 seconds in the 200 meters for 32nd place in debut
- Felix Prewitt: 29th place for 60 meters qualifying, running a 7.24 second time; 24.04 seconds in 200 meters (65th place)
- Aileen Castillo: 30th overall in the mile at 6:16.07
- Brady Gillam: Topped out at 11.93 meters for the shot put in 38th place for a PR
- Jalynn Fillmore: 7.29 seconds in 60 meters qualifying, 40th quickest overall
- Abdou Jarju: 7.36 second time in 60 meters qualifying for 49th place; 53rd place in the 200 meters at 23.54 seconds - both PR's
- Yagouba Barry: 54th place in the 200 meters on a 23.68 second PR time
- Liam Kennedy: 7.39 seconds in 56th place for the 60 meters qualifying; 23.92 seconds for 60th place in the 200 meters - both PR's
- Naomi Haring: 8.71 seconds for 60 meters qualifying in 57th place; 28.56 seconds and 65th place in the 200 meters
- Giovanni Louprasong: 7.45 second PR in 60 meters qualifying for 67th place
The team will compete after the New Year in the Muskie Mash #1 in January.
