COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (4-2, 1-0) men's basketball team opened conference play inside of Alumni Hall, hosting the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (4-3, 0-1) on Thursday (Dec. 4) evening.
Ohio Dominican won their fourth straight game, sweeping the home-stand. With the win at home, the Panthers won against Kentucky Wesleyan for the first time since January 2019 - snapping an 11-game slide against the purple Panthers.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Elijah Hinton scored 21 points as the game's leading scorer. He made nine-of-14 field goal ties with seven rebounds along with two threes.
- Terrance Broughton had four points, three rebounds and a team-high five assists and two steals.
- Derek Goodman knocked down five three pointers for 17 points with three boards and assists.
- Caleb Conard helped the cause with eight points and seven rebounds.
- Carson Seemann was five-of-six at the free throw line for nine points and six rebounds.
- Ohio Dominican outshot KWC with 45.6% from the floor in the game, making 26-of-57 field goals compared to 34.0% (18-of-53) for the visitors.
- ODU had more threes 8-5 with a 47% three point percentage and led rebounding 34-29.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first two minutes, Kentucky Wesleyan led 7-2 but Ohio Dominican answered with eight straight points. Hinton converted a three-point play and Goodman made his first three of the night as ODU led 10-7 with 14:39 left in the first half.
- Over the next six minutes, Kentucky Wesleyan outscored ODU 17-9 for a 24-19 lead before the under-eight media timeout.
- ODU ended the first half with a 13-3 run, including eight straight points at one point. The Black and Gold led 32-27 at the halftime break.
- The run rolled over to the second half as ODU had the first 11 points for a 43-27 lead three and a half minutes in. Overall, the run was 24-3 in nearly ten minutes of game action.
- Kentucky Wesleyan could not get within double digits the rest of the game. The Panthers trailed 43-31 and 53-40 but ODU led by as many as 23 points two different times 63-40 and 65-42.
