WHEELING, WV - As a pre-Thanksgiving road test, the 3–2 Ohio Dominican women's basketball team traveled south to face the Mountain East Conference's Wheeling Cardinals for a 2 p.m. matchup inside the Alma Grace McDonough Center.
Senior guard Sarah Ochs led the way for the Black and Gold with 17 points, going 4-for-4 at the free throw line and 6-for-13 from the field. She added three assists and one rebound. Senior Macy Chapman recorded a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, one block, and one assist in 28 minutes. Off the bench, Jazmyn Wheeler contributed 11 points in 18 minutes, shooting 5-for-10 from the field while adding one block and nine rebounds.
Ohio Dominican opened the first quarter shooting 54.5 percent from the field, scoring 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Wheeling posted 13 points on 42.9 percent shooting (6-of-14). From three, the Cardinals hit just 20 percent. In the paint, ODU controlled the boards with a 10-3 advantage.
In the second quarter, Ohio Dominican again outscored Wheeling, 11-10. ODU shot 30.8 percent from the field, while the Cardinals shot 25 percent. The Panthers collected 11 rebounds in the period compared to Wheeling's 10. ODU remained perfect at the line in the half, going 4-for-4, and entered the locker room with a 25-23 lead.
After halftime, the Panthers stayed steady, outscoring the Cardinals 12-8 in the third quarter. Wheeling shot 30.8 percent from the field, while ODU slipped to 21.4 percent. Ohio Dominican went 1-for-3 from three and stayed perfect at the free throw line, hitting all five attempts. Wheeling held the rebounding edge in the quarter, 13-7, but the Panthers carried a 37-31 lead into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was ODU's strongest, as the Panthers put up 18 points to Wheeling's 12. Ohio Dominican shot 8-for-14 from the field, improving to 57.1 percent for the quarter, while Wheeling shot 30.8 percent. Overall, ODU went 10-for-12 at the free throw line and won the rebounding battle 39-31. The Panthers finished the game shooting 40.4 percent from the field and secured their second straight win — and third of the season — with a 55-43 victory.

Ohio Dominican now gets the rest of the week off before returning to Alumni Hall for their first G-MAC matchup of the season, hosting Kentucky Wesleyan for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff next Thursday (Dec. 4).
