Black and Gold Travel to Clarion to Open Road Play, Falling 77-57

CLARION, PA - On their first road test of the season, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team traveled to Clarion, Pennsylvania, to take on the Eagles. The Panthers returned home with a 77–57 loss after four quarters of play.

Forward Jenna Shackleford led the Black and Gold with 15 points, logging a team-high 36 minutes. She shot 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line, while also adding five rebounds and three assists. Senior Sarah Ochs followed with 10 points, four assists, and a 4-of-7 shooting performance in 26 minutes. Freshman Gracie Cosgrove rounded out the top three scorers with seven points on 3-of-8 shooting in 22 minutes of action.

As a team, Ohio Dominican shot 76.9% from the free-throw line and 36.8% from the field, finishing 21-of-57 overall. The Panthers struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 5-of-24 attempts (20.8%). They scored 28 points in the paint and received 20 points from the bench.

The Panthers faced early challenges, managing only 40% shooting in the first quarter while going scoreless from three-point range, as Clarion put up 22 points. The Eagles continued their momentum in the second quarter, adding 23 more points while shooting an efficient 62.5% from the field and 60% from three. ODU improved slightly, shooting 38.89% from the field and 37.5% from deep, but still entered halftime trailing 45–29.

In the second half, the Panthers added 28 points but couldn't close the gap, shooting 31% in the third quarter and 38% in the fourth. They remained steady at the free-throw line, hitting 80% in the final frame, but ultimately fell 77–57 for their first road loss of the season.

Ohio Dominican now turns its attention to Saturday, when the Panthers return home to host Ohio Christian University at Alumni Hall for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
