COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team traveled to Tiffin University for a midday G-MAC matchup on TU's new turf field at the Paradiso Athletic Complex. The Panthers came away with their first win of the season, defeating the Dragons 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal by
Madeline Hartke.Â
Ohio Dominican outshot Tiffin 14-12 overall, with six shots on target compared to the Dragons' five. The Panthers fired six shots in the first half and increased their pressure with eight in the second. Both goalkeepers recorded five saves apiece. ODU's Ella Schnitzer made two saves in the first half and three in the second, also tallying an assist on Hartke's game-winning goal.Â
Madeline Hartke led the Panthers with two shots on goal, converting one for the match's only score. Freshman Kiera Archer also recorded two shots on target, while fellow freshman Ashley Yontz added one.Â
The Panthers held an edge in corner kicks, taking seven to Tiffin's three. The match saw physical play from both sides, with 19 total fouls—Tiffin committing 11 and ODU 8. Ohio Dominican's bench received a yellow card late in the first half.Â
The deciding moment came with 16 minutes left on the clock. Following a Tiffin corner kick, Schnitzer came out of the box to collect the ball and launched a long pass downfield to Hartke. The forward took on a Tiffin defender one-on-one, beat her, and struck a right-footed shot into the upper left net to give the Panthers the lead—and ultimately, the win.Â
