OWENSBORO, Ky. - Looking to get back on the good side of a .500 overall record, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (3-2, 2-2 G-MAC) football team traveled to the Bluegrass State for a October contest with the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (0-6, 0-4).
Ohio Dominican snapped a two-game losing streak with a 21-3 win over the Panthers at Steele Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 11).
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Carson Parker made his first career start for the Panthers, completing seven of his 12 passes for 72 yards while running for 29 yards on three tries.
- Markquan Rucker totaled 66 yards on 15 carries with a touchdown. Nathan Webster followed with 51 yards on the ground with a touchdown of his own.
- A trio of ODU wideouts had three catches each. Jayden Cornell led the receivers with 43 yards while Joshua Moore had 21 yards and Conner Campbell tallied 16 yards.
- Mo Conteh and Jace Schaefer tied for the most tackles for the Panthers with seven. Conteh also had one of two ODU picks in the game.
- Cruz Mobley made the lone sack in the contest.
- Kaden Holmes turned around a pick-six for a score with his second INT of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio Dominican started the game with the ball and was able to drain 7:14 of the first quarter on a 13-play, 75-yard scoring drive. After four first downs, Webster capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown run to give ODU a 7-0 lead at the halfway point of the quarter.
- The game remained 7-0 all the way through halftime and into the third quarter.
- Since ODU got the ball first, Kentucky Wesleyan started the second half with possession. The Panthers got into the red zone but was limited to a field goal as KWC kicked a 30-yard field goal to make it 7-3 with 9:21 left in the third quarter.
- KWC was stopped on fourth down with over four minutes left in the third quarter, leading to a ODU scoring chance at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
- On the second play of the fourth quarter, Rucker scored from four yards away as the lead grew to 14-3 with 14:11 left.
- Holmes intercepted the next play from scrimmage and returned the pick 34 yards for a touchdown. ODU scored 14 points in nine seconds to push the advantage to 21-3.
- The Panthers from Columbus got their second turnover on downs - this time in the end zone with 10:33 remaining in the game.
- After a three and out on offense, ODU ended the game with an interception by Conteh near the end zone.

- The Panthers return home and will host Ashland next Saturday (Oct. 18) at Panther Stadium.
