Softball Launches Their 2025 Schedule

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers are set to launch their 2025 softball season under the guidance of head coach Marcella Vanlandingham, marking her 30th year at the helm. With a stellar 2024 season behind them (35-15 overall, 19-7 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference), the Panthers aim to secure their fifth consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearance and a strong run in conference play. 

Non-Conference Play 

Opening Weekend (January 31 – February 1):

  • The Panthers kick off their season in Smyrna, Tennessee, with matchups against McKendree and Illinois-Springfield on Friday, followed by games against  Indianapolis and Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday. 

Blue Bridge Battle (February 21–23): 

  • Ohio Dominican will compete in Evansville, Indiana, facing six opponents over three days, including Ferris State, Drury University, and familiar foes such as McKendree and UIndy. 

Home Debut (February 28 – March 2): 

  • The Panthers will return to Panther Field for their first home series, hosting Ferris State, Seton Hill, and Charleston University in three doubleheaders. 

Spring Break (March 7-11): 

  • The team travels to Florida for the 2025 Spring Games, playing eight games over five days against a diverse lineup of non-conference teams. 

Final Non-Conference Doubleheaders (March 15–16): 

  • After returning home, the Panthers will host Gannon and Grand Valley State for their last non-conference games. 

G-MAC Play 

Conference Opener (March 21–23): 

  • The Panthers begin G-MAC play with home doubleheaders against Malone and Findlay. 
Midseason Road Stretch: 
  • March 26: Non-conference games at Indianapolis. 

  • March 29–30: G-MAC matchups at Thomas More (Crestview Hills, KY) and Kentucky Wesleyan (Owensboro, KY). 

April Highlights: 

  • April 5–6: Home doubleheaders against Walsh and Ashland. 

  • April 12–13: Road trips to Cedarville and Tiffin for key G-MAC games. 

  • April 18–22: A Michigan road trip with stops at Hillsdale, Northwood, and Wayne State. 

Closing the Regular Season (April 25–26): 

The Panthers wrap up conference play with home doubleheaders against Ursuline and Lake Erie. 

The postseason is scheduled for April 30th to May 3rd at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The top eight teams will face off in a double-elimination bracket.
