COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (2-2, 1-1) football team capped off Homecoming week with a battle with the other Panthers on Sunbury Road. ODU hosted Kentucky Wesleyan (1-3, 0-2) on Saturday (Sept. 28) for a rainy battle in Great Midwest play.
Ohio Dominican snapped a two-game slide with a 38-7 win over KWC, the 100th win for the Panthers as a Division II team.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Drew Gallehue passed for a career-high 293 yards on 17-of-21 passing. He tossed two touchdowns and did not turn the ball over.
- Nathan Webster tied his career-high of last week with 92 yards rushing on 19 carries. Webster scored three times on the day, becoming the first Panther to have three rushing touchdowns in a game since Travis Whittaker and Frederick Pitts V on October 23, 2021 against Walsh.
- Dimitri Mitsopoulos compiled 190 yards in the game, leading with seven catches for 167 yards and a touchdown.
- Jayden Cornell caught four passes for 103 yards with a long touchdown of 76 yards.
- Chad Thomas and DeShannon Butler tied for the team lead with seven tackles. Butler had 1.5 tackles for loss.
- Michael Powers added six tackles with one tackle for loss.
- Madison Norris and Jace Schaefer made a sack each as the Panthers totaled three sacks and 11 tackles for loss.
- The Panthers set season-highs in total offense, passing and rushing. They tallied 424 yards of total offense, to KWC's 239. They won the passing battle 293-172 and rushing category 131-67.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kentucky Wesleyan took the opening kickoff and attempted to take the early lead. After getting into the red zone, Blake Vivrette missed a 28-yard field goal attempt.
- On their next drive, KWC capped a nine play, 96-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run by Aden Hooper as the Panthers dressed in purple led 7-0 with 1:40 left in the first quarter.
- Ohio Dominican's first full drive of the second quarter led to points. Two early big passes from Gallehue to Mitsopoulos helped ODU set up a two-yard touchdown run by Webster. The freshman tied the game at seven with 5:19 left in the first half.
- After KWC punted the ball away, Ohio Dominican got a long 76-yard touchdown catch down the left sideline by Cornell. ODU took a 14-7 lead into halftime with the score in the final minute.
- The second play of the second half was another deep ball from Gallehue. This time, Mitsopoulos came away with a 67-yard catch as the lead grew to 21-7.
- KWC went three-and-out before ODU put together a 16 play, 82-yard drive that took 9:02 of game time. Webster scored his second touchdown of the day from one yard away.
- Less than three minutes later, ODU had a short field after Brayden Taylor came away with a fumble recovery. Webster scampered 32 yards for his third score of the day and second in the quarter. The Panthers led 35-7 with less than a minute left in the third quarter.
- Ohio Dominican got two fourth down stops in the last quarter with the second one leading to a 22-yard field goal by Ivan Ermlich.
- One more fourth down stand for ODU capped a 38-7 win over the visitors from Owensboro.

- Ohio Dominican heads on the road for the first of two straight road contests. They will battle the Ashland Eagles next Saturday (Oct. 5) at 1:00 PM.
