Panthers Snag Sweep Over Cavaliers To Finish Regular Season

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team wrapped up their regular season at Walsh University on Saturday afternoon. The Black and Gold took both games, 2-1 and 8-3.

Kaleigh Golden (Thornville, Ohio) and Alli Madden (Cincinnati, Ohio) both went 3-7 from the plate today. Golden had a double and a stolen base while Madden scored three times and had two runs batted in. Three other players added two hits through the two games.

In the circle, Grace Hammer (Uniontown, Ohio) and Addison Smodilla (Terre Haute, Ind.) both collected wins for the Black and Gold. Hammer allowed only one run and had nine strikeouts. Smodilla recorded three strikeouts in her complete game.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cavaliers tied it at 1-all. With the game on the line, Addie Triplett (Johnstown, Ohio) singled to center field and scored thanks to a Cavs error, giving the Black and Gold a 2-1 win as Walsh had no answer in the bottom of the frame.
