HOW IT HAPPENED

Three McKitrick free throws pulled the Panthers to 22-16 but the Panthers could not get any closer in the opening half. After the Oilers pushed the lead to 14, ODU chipped away to get within nine twice before Findlay led 48-31 at halftime. The Oilers used ten first half threes, including seven from one player (Cameron Shaw) to fuel the early lead.
- Ruth scored the first eight points for the Panthers in the second half and 11 of the first 14 points as the Panthers tried to keep the lead under 20 points.
- Findlay got the lead to 25 points (81-56) with 7:11 left before the Panthers outscored the Oilers 16-8 over that span. Four different players hit threes as McKitrick and Maurer each scored five points on the run.
