Men's Basketball To Close Home Schedule, Travel to Northwood

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's basketball team will conclude the home schedule and begin their final road swing of the season in the coming days. 

Ohio Dominican will host the Hillsdale Chargers on Thursday (Feb. 22) for Senior Night before embarking on a trip to Michigan to make up the final contest against Northwood on Monday (Feb. 26). 

OPENING TIPOFF
  • The Panthers competed last week with the likes of Lake Erie (92-82) and Northwood (89-71) but fell in both games. Ohio Dominican is now 4-19 overall and 1-15 in the G-MAC with four games to go on the docket.
  • Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) scored 26 points in each game last week with 11 three pointers, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. He is scoring 16.3 points per game this month with 24 threes (1st in the G-MAC). With 56 threes, he ranks 9th in the D2 era for threes made in a season (4 from 7th). Averaging 16.1 points per game, he slots 7th in the D2 era for scoring average.
  • Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) had identical games of 19 points with a .500 field goal %, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals last week. For the last eight games, Ruth is leading ODU with 16.8 points per game with 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Currently, Ruth is fifth in the D2 era for steals in a season (36).
  • Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) tallied 17 points at Lake Erie with three triples as he made five three pointers for the week. The senior is 2nd on the Panthers with 28 threes (15 this month) as he will be honored pregame on Thursday.
  • Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) has averaged 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in February with nine points and rebounds in last week's totals.
  • Lachlan MacDonald (Dublin, Ohio) set career-highs with ten points and eight assists at Lake Erie.
  • ODU and Hillsdale have met 26 times with Hillsdale leading 21-5. The Chargers have taken the last eight games, while squeaking out a 60-54 win in Michigan back in December.
  • Northwood now leads the series 6-4 after the Timberwolves won last Saturday's matchup 89-71 inside of Alumni Hall. ODU is 1-3 inside of Riepma Arena in the series.
  • This month, the Panthers have made 71 three pointers (3rd most in the G-MAC), calculating to nearly nine threes per game. ODU set a season-high with 13 threes made at Lake Erie. Three times this month have the Panthers converted ten or more threes.
  • Ohio Dominican has 27 blocks in February, holding the most rejections in the conference. ELI MEYER has seven blocks with Ruth and Webb each having six rejections. Meyer's seven blocks are tied for third.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
  • Hillsdale is 16-8 overall and 11-6 in the G-MAC as the postseason looms in two weeks. With three games left in the regular season, the Chargers are currently 3rd in the point rating system and would host a G-MAC Quarterfinal contest. They have two games against Findlay coming after the ODU contest Thursday.
  • The Chargers have won three straight games, coming at Lake Erie and at home against Ashland and Cedarville.
  • Joe Reuter holds the team lead in a number of categories on the Chargers, including scoring, field goals (134), threes (38), free throws (67), rebounds (174), assists (67) and blocks (15). He scores 15.5 points while shooting .479 overall to go with 7.3 rebounds. He ranks third in the G-MAC with a .827 free throw %, fifth in rebounding and ninth in field goal %.
  • Charles Woodhams is shooting .502 from the floor with 13.0 points per game and 5.4 rebounds and 63 assists.
  • Mikey McCollum has 35 threes, the second most of the Charger offense.
  • So far this season, Hillsdale is scoring 70.8 points while giving up 63.8 points per game. The Chargers are shooting .474 overall and .331 from three-point land.
  • In the first meeting, Reuter scored 12 points with six rebounds. Woodhams neared a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. McCollum was also in double-figures with ten points.
SCOUTING THE TIMBERWOLVES
  • Northwood is currently 6-18 overall and 3-13 after their win at ODU last Saturday. They will begin a three-game home stand with hosting Lake Erie on Wednesday (Feb. 21) and Walsh on Saturday (Feb. 24).
  • The Timberwolves defeated Findlay on Jan. 18 (60-58) to earn their first G-MAC win and followed it up with an 83-80 win at Lake Erie for the second conference W of the season. They got G-MAC win #3 in Columbus, an 89-71 win over the Panthers.
  • After 31 points and six threes against the Panthers, Collin Albert leads the Timberwolves and is 3rd in the G-MAC with 19.6 points per game. Now, Albert sits 9th in the G-MAC with 52 threes (2.0 3P/G). His free throw % of .805 is fifth highest mark among the G-MAC players.
  • Anthony Sanders tallied a double-double in Columbus of 15 points and 11 rebounds. He is second on the team with 12.6 points per game and 5.3 rebounds.
  • Jaylen Hodges is in double figures with 10.1 points per game and 1.55 steals, sitting fourth among the G-MAC in the takeaway category.
  • Xavier Bargesser finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Quinton Steele II is 4th in the G-MAC with 31 blocks.
  • Northwood is scoring 70.1 points on offense while the defense is surrendering 84.3 points. The Timberwolves are shooting .421 from the floor and a .323 three point %.
