Stare's Double-Double Fuels Panthers Past Storm In 77-64 Road Win

Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio – On Thursday evening, the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team traveled to Lake Erie College to battle the Storm. The Black and Gold picked up their first road win of the season, 77-64.

  • Senior, Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) snagged her second double-double of the season, netting 28 points and securing 10 rebounds. The guard dished out four assists and grabbed two steals.
  • Following her was Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) with 16 points. Mullet went 4-9 from behind the arc and notched four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
  • The final Panther in double figures was Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) with 13 points. Fearon shot 50.0 percent from the floor while grabbing six rebounds and handing out a team high of five assists.
  • Off the bench, La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) tabbed nine points. The freshman had two steals and four assists. Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) accounted for seven points and six rebounds.
How It Happened
  • LEC opened with the first four points of the game, but the Panthers quickly took an 8-7 lead with back-to-back three pointers from Fearon and Mullet. Stare netted 10 points to push ODU's lead to 18-13 after the first period.
  • Mullet snagged two more three's in the beginning of the second quarter to make it 26-18 in favor of the Panthers. The Storm answered with an 8-4 scoring run over the next two minutes, cutting their deficit to four. Lake Erie added five more before heading into the intermission, making it 32-31 with ODU still holding the lead.
  • The Storm began the third quarter with nine unanswered points, taking a 40-32 lead. Stare and Fearon teamed up to combine for 10 points over four minutes, bringing the Panthers within one. The two entered the final period tied at 53-all.
  • Once again, Fearon and Mullet grabbed buckets at the start of the quarter. The Black and Gold continued to roll, extending their lead to as many as 13 a few different times. The Panthers won 77-64.
