Men's Basketball Has Storm and Timberwolves on Upcoming Forecast

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's basketball team begins the final push of the regular season as they have six games left on the regular season slate. 

Ohio Dominican will head north to Painesville, Ohio for a Thursday (Feb. 15) matchup with the Lake Erie Storm at 5:30 PM. The Panthers will start the final home stand of the season with a Saturday (Feb. 17) contest against the Northwood Timberwolves at 3:00 PM. Ohio Dominican will see Northwood twice in nine days. Four of the final six games will be away from Alumni Hall. 

OPENING TIPOFF
  • The Panthers hosted Tiffin on Monday in another rescheduled contest. ODU led 26-20 at halftime but Tiffin rallied back for a 68-57 win. With six games left, Ohio Dominican is 4-17 overall and 1-13 in the G-MAC. 
  • Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) scored 18 points versus Tiffin with seven field goals. Ruth is scoring 16.0 points, grabbing 4.3 rebounds and dishing out 3.5 assists per game this month. He is shooting .443 (39-88) from the floor, the second highest mark on the team for February. 
  • Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) is second on the team for February with 13.0 points per game. He has 13 three pointers in February (2nd in the G-MAC). As a freshman, McKitrick is leading the Panthers with 45 threes and is 2nd in scoring with 15.2 points per game. 
  • Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) set a career-high with 18 points on Monday with seven rebounds. He has a stat line of 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, a .431 field goal % and 12 three pointers (.375 3P %) for the month. 
  • Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) is giving the Panthers 7.8 points this month and 3.8 rebounds to go with ten triples. 
  • Lachlan MacDonald (Dublin, Ohio) has facilitated on offense this month with 2.4 assists per game, 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds. He is shooting .389 in February in 30.3 minutes played.
  • Off the bench in a heavy schedule this month, Caleb Maurer (Fort Loramie, Ohio), Christian Lee (Birmingham, Alabama) and Eli Meyer (Seymour, Indiana) have provided depth minutes for the shorthanded Panthers. Maurer has 3.7 points, 2.0 points and five threes this month in 18.1 minutes. Lee has a clip of 2.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and three triples for February. Meyer has 3.5 rebounds, eight assists, five blocks and five steals in the six February contests. 
  • The Panthers and the Storm have met 27 times with Lake Erie taking a 14-13 advantage. The Storm have won four straight matchups in the series, including a 92-78 win back in January. ODU is 5-8 inside of the Osborne Center. 
  • Northwood leads the series 5-4 after Ohio Dominican has taken the last four contests, including a sweep of the Timbies last season. The Panthers have won three of five matchups at Alumni Hall with the last three contests being victories. 
SCOUTING THE STORM
  • Lake Erie hosts Ohio Dominican with a 6-18 overall record and 4-11 in the G-MAC.
  • The Storm has earned three of their four conference wins on the road, defeating Malone, Findlay and Ohio Dominican. Lake Erie picked up a season sweep of the Pioneers with a win at home.
  • Including a road win over ODU on January 18th, Lake Erie has gone 2-6 in their last eight games. The Storm have dropped three straight games, all at home to Ashland, Northwood and Hillsdale.
  • Jacob Plantz leads the Storm with 15.4 points per game while shooting .450 with 38 threes (2nd on the team) and 3.3 rebounds. He has seven games of at least 20 points. 
  • Jonny Manning is scoring 15.0 points and is leading LEC with 8.0 rebounds per game. He still leads the G-MAC with nine double-doubles
    and is tied with Plantz with seven games of at least 20-points. His rebounding mark are the fourth best mark in the G-MAC.
  • Leon Hughes is the third Storm player in double figures with 10.4 points and a team-high 40 three pointers. He slots second in 5.1 rebounds per contest.
  • C.J. Hornbeak averages 3.0 assists per game for the Storm.
  • Lake Erie is scoring 74.9 points with a .436 field goal %, a .339 three point % and .688 free throw %. On defense, the Storm are allowing 78.3 points and a shooting clip of .470 FG/.333 3P/.747 FT.
SCOUTING THE TIMBERWOLVES
  • Northwood sits at 5-17 overall and 2-12 in the G-MAC before a trip to Tiffin on Thursday. The Timberwolves are in Columbus on Saturday.
  • After a 3-5 start in non-conference play, Northwood has gone 2-9 since the beginning of 2024 and 2-11 since their Davenport win on Dec. 6th.
  • The Timberwolves defeated Findlay on Jan. 18 (60-58) to earn their first G-MAC win and followed it up with an 83-80 win at Lake Erie for the second conference W of the season.
  • Northwood fell 88-68 to Walsh on the road, bringing their road record to 1-9 entering this week.
  • Collin Albert leads the Timberwolves and is 3rd in the G-MAC with 19.2 points per game. Albert adds 45 threes (2.0 3P/G), 2.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. His free throw % of .808 is the fourth highest mark in
    the conference.
  • Anthony Sanders is second on the team with 12.1 points per game and 5.0 rebounds.
  • Jaylen Hodges is in double figures with 10.1 points per game and 1.55 steals, sitting fourth among the G-MAC in the takeaway category.
  • Richard Lowe is the leading rebounder with 6.5 rebounds per game in his ten appearances this season.
  • Northwood is scoring 69.5 points on offense while the defense is surrendering 85.0 points. The Timberwolves are shooting .416 from the floor and a .318 three point %.
