COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another week of conference play is ahead for the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team. The Black and Gold will split the week by heading to Lake Erie College on Thursday evening and returning home on Saturday to host Northwood University.
About Ohio Dominican
The Panthers suffered two loses last week, moving them to 6-17 on the season and 3-12 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. They currently sit in 12
th place in the standings.
Leading the way for ODU is
Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) averaging 16.8 points a game. She ranks third in the G-MAC in scoring. Last week, Stare averaged 20 points with 18 at Malone and 22 at Ashland.
Following her is
La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 12.0 points a game this season. Hill netted 38 points last week. The freshman guard is ranked third in the conference in total steals with 50, and steals per game, averaging 2.4.
Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) is third in scoring on the team, averaging 8.5 points a game. She leads the team in total blocks with 13 and averages a team high of 4.5 rebounds a game.
Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) notches 7.0 points a game. Against the Pioneers on Thursday, Mullet grabbed a career-high of 10 rebounds.
About Lake Erie
The Storm enters the week with a 1-20 overall mark and a 0-15 record in the G-MAC, placing them in 14
th place in the conference. LEC most recently dropped a close battle with Northwood and then fell to Hillsdale, pushing their home record to 0-11.
Leading the way for Lake Erie is Anna Ibos with 8.5 points a game. The junior averages 37.6 percent from the floor and 3.7 rebounds a game. Following her is Alexis Lehmkuhl with 7.9 points a game. She is shooting 50.5 percent from the floor. Sophia Chipps averages 6.6 points a game and a team high of 2.1 assists.
As a team, the Storm is shooting 34.4 percent from the floor and 25.4 percent from behind the arc, putting up 49.6 points a game compared to their opponents 76.9 points. ODU holds a 16-11 mark against LEC during the NCAA Division II era and a 19-14 mark against them all time, dating back to their first meeting during the 1989-90 season. The Panthers downed the Storm in the first meeting, 62-45.
About Northwood
The Timberwolves are 14-7 overall and post a 10-4 record in the G-MAC, sitting in fourth in the standings, tied with Trevecca. Northwood just defeated Lake Erie and Walsh on the road, moving them to 6-5 on the road this season.
Three different players average double-digits with Maddie Voelker averaging a team high of 12.8 points a game. Voelker is shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 86.7 percent from the free throw line, ranking second in the conference. Following her is Jayla Strickland with 11.0 points a game. Strickland leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.0 boards a game. Makenzie Todd averages 11.0 points also and is fourth in the conference, shooting 35.3 percent from behind the arc.
As a unit, Northwood is shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from the three-point line, and 75.3 percent from the free throw line. The Timberwolves are 8-5 against the Panthers all time, dating back to the 2010-11 season. Since joining the G-MAC, NU is 3-0 against ODU, including an 82-63 win in January.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM on Thursday evening in Painesville. Ohio Dominican will be back in Alumni Hall on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.
