MIDLAND, Mich. - Following Thursday's contest at Hillsdale, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (3-4, 0-2 G-MAC) men's basketball team remained in the state of Michigan for another Great Midwest contest on Saturday (Dec. 7).
The Panthers took on the Northwood Timberwolves (4-4, 1-1) at Riepma Arena, falling 70-64.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Terrance Broughton had a team-high 15 points, going six-of-16 from the floor with four rebounds.
- Derek Goodman was second on the team with 14 points scored, hitting four-of-five threes in the game. Goodman set career bests with points, three pointers and three steals.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon tallied his second double-double of the season with 13 points and ten rebounds. He also set a career best with four steals.
- Elijah Hinton just missed a double-double, scoring ten points and pulling down nine rebounds.
- Jaylan Green and Brady Moore combined for ten points off the bench.
- Zac Kimball came away with six rebounds.
- The Panthers shot 39.3% on the floor (24-of-61) in the contest, 25.0% (5-of-20) from deep and 78.6% (11-of-14) at the free throw line.
- Ohio Dominican had 38 total rebounds with 13 offensive boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams exchanged the lead a few times before the first media timeout of the game. Ohio Dominican led 7-6 with 15:12 left in the first half.
- Northwood scored nine straight points for a 15-7 lead with 11 minutes left before halftime. ODU responded with an 8-0 run as Weatherspoon scored six points, tying the game at 15 at the midway point of the half.
- The Timberwolves pushed the lead to 24-19 three minutes later. Hinton scored four points as ODU regained a 27-25 lead with an 8-1 run.
- Over the final 4:49 of the first half, Northwood outscored ODU 12-2 to take a 37-29 lead into halftime.
- The Timbies pushed the lead to as many as ten, 39-29 and 41-31.
- Goodman made a trio of threes as ODU employed a 15-5 run to tie the game at 46-46 with 10:50 to go.
- Northwood took back the lead with a three-point play shortly after. The game remained a one possession game for the next five minutes until Northwood opened a seven-point lead (63-56) with 2:58 left.
- ODU scored six of the next seven points to get back to 64-62 with 1:34 on the clock.
- Northwood ended the game at 70-64 with some free throws in the final minute.

- Ohio Dominican will host Findlay next Saturday (Dec. 14) in a Great Midwest doubleheader. The men's game will take place at 3:00 PM following the women's contest.
