COLUMBUS, Ohio -Â The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team closed out their regular season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cedarville in a G-MAC showdown at Panther Stadium.
The match, which was their final game of the season, saw senior
Devin Schoenberger score the game's only goal in the 80th minute, with freshman
Madeline Hartke providing the assist.
The game featured a defensive battle, with Cedarville controlling possession for much of the first half. Despite this, both teams remained scoreless heading into halftime, with Cedarville out-shooting Ohio Dominican 5-2.
In the second half, the Panthers managed to gain a little more possession, but Cedarville continued to dominate the shots, finishing the game with 12 total attempts, six of which were on goal. Ohio Dominican, on the other hand, registered four shots, three of which were on target.
In her final game as a Panther, senior goalkeeper Jadelyn McNerney made six crucial saves to preserve the shutout and secure the victory. Unfortunately for Ohio Dominican, despite the win, the Panthers ended the season just shy of qualifying for the G-MAC tournament with a 5-6-6 record.
