HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Ohio Dominican Panthers volleyball team concluded their 2024 Great Midwest Tournament run in the title game on Saturday (Nov. 23) afternoon at Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena, falling to the Findlay Oilers, 3-0.
Set 1
The Panthers started with three straight points to take the early lead, including two kills by
Lauren Lucas. The Oilers took back the lead with a strong run in the middle of the set. Findlay led by as many as five points before ODU closed the gap to three points at 24-21 with Findlay winning the set 25-21.
Set 2
Findlay opened up a six-point lead (9-3) before the Panthers chipped into the lead throughout the set. Ohio Dominican got within 12-10 on a 7-3 run, taking advantage of some Findlay errors. The Oilers expanded the lead to seven to close out the set 25-18.
Set 3
Some timely kills by various Panthers pushed ODU to a 8-5 lead. The Oilers erased the lead and took a 14-10 lead en route to a 25-14 win in the final set.
Lucas led the Panthers with 10 kills in the match.
Ashley Chmielewski and
Grace Zinchuk each had seven kills.
Saige Avery had 17 assists, two aces and six digs.
Lauren Dinunzi had a team-high 14 digs.
The Panthers conclude their season in the tournament final for the second straight year, finishing with a 15-16 record.
