WBB Gains First Home Win & Stare Breaks Scoring Record

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio Dominican women's basketball team opened their home season with an impressive 76-60 win against the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds in Alumni Hall. This victory was highlighted by senior star Gabby Stare, who not only led the Panthers to a win but also made history by breaking the all-time scoring record in Ohio Dominican women's basketball, surpassing the previous record of 1,791 points set in 1982. 

Game Leaders

Gabby Stare: 

  • 28 points, shooting an outstanding 10-13 from the field. 

  • Perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line. 

  • Contributed with seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 
Brynn Mullet: 
  • Scored 19 points, shooting 7-18 from the field. 

  • Added seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals while playing 37 minutes. 

Sarah Ochs also delivered a solid performance: 

  • Scored 13 points on 5-10 shooting, including 2-7 from beyond the arc. 

  • Collected four rebounds and three assists. 

Team Performance 

  • The game started with both teams showing similar shooting accuracy, but Ohio Dominican took control in the second quarter, upping their shooting percentage to 50% and outscoring UIndy 32-22 by halftime. 

  • Ohio Dominican had a standout third quarter, shooting 64.71% from the field and adding 28 points. 

  • Despite UIndy's improved shooting in the final quarter (63.64%), Ohio Dominican's lead was too substantial to overcome.

Gabby Stare's record-breaking performance was capped off with the final bucket of the game, marking a historic moment as she became the all-time leading scorer for Ohio Dominican's women's basketball program.
