Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio - Last night, the Ohio Dominican Panthers faced a tough 19-9 Ashland Eagles, falling 3-1 in a late-season G-MAC volleyball matchup. 

Team Leaders

Jenna Peters: Led the Panthers' offense with 11 kills 

Grace Zinchuk: Delivered an impressive performance with 9 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 aces, providing a strong presence both offensively and defensively. 

Gabrielle Kirker: Contributed 20 assists, 8 digs, and 2 aces. 

Lauren Dinunzi: Anchored the defense with 21 digs and added 4 assists. 

Game Breakdown

Set 1: 

Ashland started strong, quickly building a 14-8 lead. Despite a four-point run by ODU to narrow the gap to 19-14, the Eagles maintained control and secured the set 25-18. 

Set 2: 

ODU came out aggressively, recording their highest number of kills in this set with 11. The set was tightly contested, with a tie at 7-7 early on. However, a seven-point run by Ashland pushed the score to 14-7. The Panthers rallied to tie the game at 19-19 before closing out the set with a three-point run, winning 25-23. 

Set 3: 

This set featured intense back-and-forth action, with nine tie scores. The teams were deadlocked at 8-8 and 15-15 before Ashland pulled away with a four-point streak, taking a 19-16 lead. Despite ODU's efforts, the Eagles finished the set 25-22. 

Set 4: 

Ashland dominated early, racing to a 12-3 lead. The Panthers struggled to generate momentum offensively, allowing the Eagles to take the set decisively, 25-13, and win the match 3-1.

Ohio Dominican will look to bounce back with a critical G-MAC match as they host the Lake Erie Storm this Friday at 6 PM inside Alumni Hall.
