ODU Prepares For Panther Showdown And Trojan Battle This Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team welcomes their southern G-MAC competitors to open the month of February. ODU will host Ky. Wesleyan on Thursday and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday.

The Black and Gold move to 6-13 overall and 3-8 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after going 1-1 overall last week. The Panthers lost to Findlay on Thursday, 71-49, but ended the week on a high, downing Tiffin, 54-45.

Senior, Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) secured her fourth career double-double against the Dragons with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Stare now averages 16.9 points a game, third best in the conference. The guard is shooting 53.0 percent from the field, ranking fourth in the G-MAC.

Guard, La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) averaged 10.5 points last week bringing her season average to 10.8 points a game. The freshman leads the team with 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals a game. Hill has a total of 39 steals this season, the fifth most among the conference.

Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) and Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) both netted double figure points over the week. Fearon dropped 10 points against the Oilers while Mullet tabbed 12 against the Dragons. Mullet averages 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game.

As a squad, the Black and Gold are shooting 41.6 percent from the field, ranking sixth in the conference. They are shooting 25.0 percent from behind the arc and 71.3 percent from the free throw line. ODU grabs 10.4 steals a game, the third most in the G-MAC.

About Ky. Wesleyan
The Purple Panthers enter Thursday's contest with a 13-4 overall record and an 8-3 mark in the G-MAC, placing them in third place in the conference standings. They are coming off a 2-0 week after defeating Lake Erie and Walsh at home.

Four players average double figures for KWC with Emmy Ralph leading them all with 13.2 points. Following her is Corina Conley with 12.0 points a game. Conley is shooting a team best of 42.0 percent from behind the arc. Jordyn Barga averages 11.6 points along with a team high of 7.4 boards. Shaylee McDonlad is averaging 10.6 points and 2.9 assists a game.

As a team, Ky. Wesleyan is shooting 43.7 percent from the field, 33.2 percent from behind the arc, and 77.4 percent from the free throw line. KWC is 8-3 against ODU all-time, dating back to their first meeting during the 2017-18 season. The Purple and Grey have won the last five matchups against the Black and Gold.

About Trevecca Nazarene
The Trojans are 10-7 overall and hold a 6-4 mark in the conference, placing them in seventh in the standings. They defeated the Storm last Saturday. TNU will visit Findlay on Thursday before making the trip to Columbus on Saturday.

Kelley Carter leads the Trojans and the conference, averaging 19.4 points a game. Following her is this week's G-MAC Athlete of the Week, Faith Wilken, with 14.1 points a game. F. Wilken also leads the team in blocks (0.9), steals (2.1), and minutes played (32.5). Konnor Grambrell averages 11.8 points while Lili Wilken nets 11.1 points a game. L. Wilken dishes out a team high of 2.6 assists a game.

As a unit, TNU is shooting 43.2 percent from the floor, 33.4 percent from the three point line, and 77.6 percent from the charity stripe. The Panthers are 7-3 against the Trojans all-time, dating back to their first contest on Nov. 24, 2015. Ohio Dominican has won the first six games but Trevecca has won three of the last four matchups. The Black and Gold are undefeated against the Purple and White inside Alumni Hall.

Tip-Off
Tip-of is set for 5:30 PM on Thursday. Thursday is also Academic Excellence Night and Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night. Saturday, the game is set for 1:00 PM against the Trojans.
