Findlay And Tiffin Begin Four Game Home Stretch For Women's Basketball

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team starts their four game home stretch this week as they play host to Findlay and Tiffin. The Panthers will welcome the Oilers on Thursday and the Dragons on Saturday.

About Ohio Dominican
The Black and Gold enter Thursday with a 5-12 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after going 1-1 last week. ODU defeated Lake Erie to move their home record back to even, but dropped their road match at Northwood on Saturday.

Over the two games last week, La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the team in scoring, averaging 16.0 points a game. She also grabbed seven steals and seven assists. On the season, the freshman averages 10.8 points a game in 27.1 minutes while shooting 36.1 percent from the field.

Following her was Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio). Shackleford averaged 11.5 points between the two games. She netted 15 points against the Storm and four rebounds. In her freshman campaign, the forward averages 9.0 points a game, 1.6 assists, and a team high of 4.7 rebounds.

Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) matched Shackleford in scoring, averaging 11.5 points a game. The senior grabbed 18 on the road against the Timberwolves. This season, Stare averages 17.2 points a game, third best in the conference, while shooting 52.8 percent from the floor, ranking fifth on the G-MAC.

As a team, Ohio Dominican averages 62.7 points a game while shooting 42.2 percent from the floor, ranking fifth among the conference. ODU averages 10.2 steals a game, placing them in third in the G-MAC.

About Findlay
The Oilers enter this week with a 7-10 overall record and a 3-6 record in the G-MAC, placing them in 10th in the standings. When on the road this season, Findlay is 2-6. They are currently on a one game losing streak.

Leading the team in scoring is Kate Ellis with 15.4 points a game. The senior grabs 5.2 boards a game while snagging a team high of 1.1 steals a game. Following her is Alyssa Ziehler with 13.1 points a game. Ziehler leads the team in rebounding (6.9) and blocks (0.6).

As a team, Findlay is shooting 39.9 percent from the field, 27.7 percent from behind the arc, and 70.9 percent from the free throw line. The Oilers are 14-12 against the Panthers within the NCAA Division II Era. In the All-Time series, dating back to their first meeting in the 1991-92 season, UF is 23-13 against ODU.

About Tiffin
The Dragons are 4-14 overall and hold a 2-8 mark in the conference, placing them in 13th in the standings. Tiffin will travel to conference powerhouse Ashland on Thursday before heading to Sunbury Road on Saturday.

Kirsten Williams leads the team in scoring averaging 9.6 points a game. The senior leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.9 boards a game, and posts the best three-point percentage, 37.1 percent. Following Williams is Savanah Richards, averaging 7.9 points, Presley Feltner, averaging 7.1 points, and Catara Dejarnette, averaging 7.0 points.

As a unit, TU is shooting 38.2 percent from the floor, 24.2 percent from the three point line, and 63.2 percent from the charity stripe. The Black and Gold holds a 13-12 record against the Green and Gold during the NCAA Division II Era. Within the All-Time series, the Panthers are 33-29 against the Dragons dating back to the 1984-85 season.

Tip-Off
Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM against the Oilers on Thursday evening. The Panthers will return to the court at 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon with the Dragons.

ODU SAAC is hosting a book drive during both games. They are partnering with 2nd & 7 to collect gently used books, K-6, to donate to the Columbus Kids' Book Bank. Any gently used book is appreciated.
