Black And Gold Welcomes Storm Then Travels To Timberwolves

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A split week is on tap for the Ohio Dominican women's basketball team. The Panthers will host the Storm of Lake Erie on Thursday evening and then pack up to make the trek north to take on the Timberwolves of Northwood on Saturday afternoon.

About Ohio Dominican
Over the course of last week, freshman Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) led the team, averaging 14.0 points per game. Against the Arrows, the forward netted 17 points, a new career high. She followed with 11 points on Saturday. Shackleford now averages 8.6 points a game and grabs a team high of 4.6 rebounds a game.

Fellow freshman, La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) averaged 11.5 points a game last week. She scored 15 points on the road, netting four three pointers. Hill had five assists and three steals that game. Hill averages 10.0 points a game this season and is seventh in the conference in steals per game, averaging 1.92.

Senior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) averaged 10.5 points last week, securing 15 against the Cavaliers. Against Ursuline, Stare dished out a career high of seven assists. The Newark native ranks fifth in the conference in both field goal percentage, 54.6, and free throw percentage, 84.6. She is third in scoring, averaging 17.9 points a game.

Guard, Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) leads the team, handing out 2.6 assists a game. The guard averages 6.3 points a game and is shooting 32.3 percent from behind the arc. Jazmyn Wheeler (Winfield, W. Va.) comes off the bench and averages 3.1 boards a game and 5.1 points along with 0.4 blocks.

As a team, the Black and Gold are shooting 43.0 percent from the field, fifth best in the G-MAC, 25.1 percent from behind the arc, and 69.1 percent from the charity stripe.

About Lake Erie
The Storm enters Alumni Hall on Thursday evening with a 1-12 overall record and a 0-7 mark in the Great Midwest athletic Conference, currently sitting in 14th place in the conference. LEC is currently on an 11 game losing streak and hold a 1-6 record on the road.

Leading the way for Lake Erie is Anna Ibos with 10.0 points a game. The junior averages 27.7 minutes a game, is shooting 44.7 percent from the floor, and 34.8 percent from behind the arc. Following her is Alexis Lehmkuhl with 8.6 points a game. Lehmkuhl has the best shooting percentage at 50.8 percent from the field and 50.0 percent the free throw line.

As a team, the Storm is shooting 34.1 percent from the floor and 27.2 percent from behind the arc. They are putting up 50.8 points a game compared to their opponents 76.9 points. ODU holds a 15-11 mark against LEC during the NCAA Division II Era, and an 18-14 All-Time record against them, dating back to their first meeting in the 1989-90 season.

About Northwood
The Timberwolves are 8-6 overall and post a 4-3 record in the G-MAC, placing them in sixth place in the standings, tied with Trevecca. Northwood is on a two game losing streak with a 6-2 mark at home.

Three different players average double-digits with Maddie Voelker leading the wat with 12.9 points a game. Voelker is shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 88.5 percent from the free throw line, ranking second in the conference. Following her is Jayla Strickland with 11.8 points a game. Strickland leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.4 boards a game. Makenzie Todd averages 11.6 points and is second in the conference, shooting 36.6 percent form deep.

As a unit, NU is shooting 41.3 percent from the floor, 34.0 percent from the three point line, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line. They are 7-5 against the Panthers All-Time, dating back to the 2010-11 season when the two first met. Since joining the conference, Northwood is 2-0 against Ohio Dominican. The Black and Gold are 1-5 inside Riepma Arena in Midland.
