AMHERST, N. Y. – On Friday afternoon, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team competed in the first day of the Wildcat Den Classic hosted by Daemen University. The Panthers defeated the Senators of Davis & Elkins, 3-0.

- Leading the way for the Black and Gold was Lauren Lucas (Grove City, Ohio) with 11 kills and three blocks. Following her was sophomore Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) with 10 kills.
- Fellow sophomore Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) netted 17 assists and added six digs. Libero Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) added 11 digs on the night. Senior Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) registered six digs.
- Freshman Lauren Dinunzi (Louisville, Ky.) snagged four services aces with Ava Horn (Whitehouse, Ohio) grabbing three blocks.
- The Panthers outhit the Senators 37 kills to 20 kills and had a total of 13 service aces.

How It Happened
- The Black and Gold jumped to an early 7-3 lead after back-to-back kills from Aselage. The Panthers extended their lead to 15-5 with Shoup at the service line totaling two service aces in the process.
- The Senators went on a four-point run of their own to make it 15-9. ODU then won 10 of the next 14 points to take the first set 25-13.
- Ohio Dominican jumped out to another early 9-4 lead in the second set with consecutive service aces from Dinunzi. D&E scored three points in a row to cut their deficit to two.
- The Black and Gold went on a 6-0 run to bring their lead to 16-8. The Senators broke up the Panthers run with three points of their own.
- ODU won four more points to make it 20-11. The Black and Red came within six before Ohio Dominican took it away and won the second match 25-16, making it 2-0.
- Similar to the other two sets, the Black and Gold ran out to another early 8-3 lead before the two went point-for-point to make it 14-10.
- ODU then scored six points in a row, growing their lead to 20-10. The Panthers then won five of the last seven points to complete the 3-0 sweep.

The Black and Gold return to the court on Saturday afternoon to face California (Pa.) at 1:30 PM and the host, Daemen University, at 4:00 PM to close out the Classic.
