POWELL, Ohio - For the fourth time this month, the Ohio Dominican Panthers cross country team competed on a Friday (Sept. 29) night as the sun was setting. The Panthers ran at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, held at Liberty Park.
Two more times cracked the all-time top ten for the men's team, including an appearance for the top five. Seven different runners passed personal bests this week.
The men's team scored a sixth place finish of 15 teams that notched a team finish in the 8K, 17 teams competed in total. On the women's 6K side, ODU was eighth of the 13 teams that earned points while 17 teams ran in the race.
MEN
Ethan Sinning (Tipp City, Ohio) improved from the seventh fastest 8K to fourth place in the record books as the best runner for the Panthers. He ran a personal best with a time of 26:09.3, finishing 15th place overall.
Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) slotted in 26th place with a 26:28.1 as the eighth fastest 8K time in the program's history.
Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) beat his own personal best at 26:43.4 with
Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) following him at 26:46.7, another personal best. Shorter and Krous ended the race in 32nd and 33rd place, respectively. Freshman
Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) had the fifth best time for ODU, a 27:17.1 for his second-best time of the season in 52nd place.
Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) set a personal best by 1.5 seconds, timing out at 28:08.3 in 84th place.
Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) crossed the finish line in 30:19.2 for the 8K.
WOMEN
Junior
Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) was Ohio Dominican's top women's finisher for the fourth straight race as she was 31st overall with a 24:13.4 in the 6K. Freshman
Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) followed behind Henry with a 24:49.2 personal best, running her fastest time by over 34 seconds in 54th place. Senior
Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) set her 6K personal record at 24:50.7 in third place for the Panthers (56th place overall). Senior
Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) gained her fourth straight finish in fourth place for ODU, timing out at 25:21.7 - her fastest 6K of the season in 72nd place. Freshman
Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) surpassed her PR by over 30 seconds this week at 25:45.2 in 79th place. Freshman
Gabby Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) was sixth on the team with a 25:49.7 time. Freshman
Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) cleared her previous best mark of 27:17.0 with a 27:03.3 time.
The Panthers will return to action in the state of Illinois next weekend at the Lewis Crossover.
