COLUMBUS - Following a week with three scoreless appearances out of the bullpen, senior southpaw Myles Martinez (Columbus, Ohio) was named Great Midwest South Division Pitcher of the Week on Monday (April 17) afternoon.
Martinez totaled 5.1 scoreless innings of relief with eight strikeouts against the likes of UIndy and Findlay with six hits and one walk allowed.
In the 24-23 loss at UIndy on Tuesday, Martinez threw two innings of shutout ball with two hits, one walk and one strikeout on his stat line. He fanned five batters in 2.2 innings on Friday at Findlay before coming in and getting two punchouts with the bases loaded on Saturday.
For the season, the left-hander has an 0.28 ERA (1 ER in 32 innings) and seven saves (1st in the G-MAC). In 15 appearances, he has 38 strikeouts overall with 10.69 K's per nine innings.
Ohio Dominican has had three Pitchers of the Week (Michael Lesiecki and Max Whitesell) and one Player of the Week (Brennen Hunt) this season.
