TIFFIN, Ohio - In the final conference contest before the holiday break, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (1-6, 0-3 G-MAC) men's basketball team battled the Tiffin Dragons (6-2, 1-1 G-MAC) on Saturday (Dec. 9).
Three players scored in double figures in a 75-61 loss to the Dragons.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) was tied for the game-high in scoring with 18 points. He made five field goals, including a pair of three pointers. McKitrick converted six-of-seven free throws. He also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals. The freshman has scored in double figures in three straight games.
- Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) scored a career-high with 15 points. He went six-of-12 from the floor with two threes. He made two blocks with three assists and three steals.
- Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) reached double-figures for a third straight game as well. Ruth scored 12 points with three steals.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon (Columbus, Ohio) finished the game with a team-high seven rebounds with three assists while scoring three points.
- Zac Kimball (Sydney, Australia) and Caleb Brooks (Florence, Kentucky) each had four rebounds. Brooks added seven points.
- The Panthers set a season-high with ten steals in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tiffin led 9-2 five minutes in before a three pointer from Swartz made it 9-5 with 13:43 left in the first half.
- With a 19-point Tiffin lead at the 7:01 mark (31-12), the Panthers went on an 8-0 run to pull within 31-20 with 3:14 left.
- The Dragons led 40-23 at the halftime break.
- Tiffin pushed the lead to 22 with 16:21 left, before ODU answered with a 10-0 run. Ruth scored five of the ten points with the Panthers getting the lead down to 49-37 with 13:43 to go.
- Both teams exchanged baskets throughout the end of the contest as Tiffin won 75-61.
