SALEM, W. Va. - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (3-7) men's basketball team played a non-conference game on the road against the Salem Tigers (3-8) on Tuesday (Dec. 19) afternoon.
In the final contest before the holiday break, the Panthers were defeated by the Tigers 66-61.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) broke his career-high with 33 points in the contest. In nearly 39 minutes, he was 13-of-21 from the floor with five three pointers in 11 tries. In the second half alone, McKitrick was eight-of-ten shooting for 19 points after 14 first half points.
- Caleb Brooks (Florence, Kentucky) and Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) were tied with 12 points and eight rebounds in the game.
- Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) scored four points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Zac Kimball (Sydney, Australia) was scoreless but assisted with six rebounds, five assists and the team's only steals.
- Ohio Dominican finished with a 41.5% (22-53) field goal percentage, outshooting the Tigers with 40.3% (25-62).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- McKitrick hit two three pointers in the first two minutes as Ohio Dominican led 8-2. Salem scored five straight points before another McKitrick three and a Brooks free throw made it 12-7 ODU.
- Salem answered with a basket and then the Panthers rattled off nine straight points to take a 21-9 lead at the halfway point of the half.
- The Panthers got the lead to as many as 27-14 as Salem closed the half with a 10-2 run.
- Ohio Dominican led 29-24 at the half.
- The 10-2 run continued for the Tigers into the second half with an 11-0 run, as Salem took a 35-29 advantage with 16:32 left. The Tigers got the lead to seven (38-31) with McKitrick scoring five of the next seven points as ODU tied the game with 13:03 to go.
- At one point in the second half, McKitrick and Ruth combined to score 20 straight points as the Panthers regained a 53-44 lead.
- Salem took back the lead 62-61 in the final two minutes to win the game late.

- Ohio Dominican will rest up for the holidays before returning to action on Saturday (Dec. 30) at home. The Panthers will face the Thomas More Saints for the return to conference play at 1:00 PM that day.
