COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team is taking a break from Great Midwest Athletic Conference play this week with three nonconference contests. The Black and Gold will host Central State University on Tuesday and West Liberty University on Thursday before making the short trip to Division I institution, the University of Dayton, on Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers most recently fell on the road to Tiffin University last Saturday, moving their overall record to 2-5 and their conference record to 0-3. During that game,
Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) netted her seventh double-digit scoring game of the season with 13 points.
Jenna Shackleford (Newark, Ohio) joined her with 12 points.
Stare ranks third in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game this season. She is second in minutes per game, averaging 32.21, and fifth in free throw percentage, shooting 89.5 percent from behind the charity stripe.
Freshman point guard,
La'Sonja Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) leads the team in assists and steals, dishing out 2.8 assists per game and snagging 2.2 steals per game. She averages 9.8 points per game while shooting 34.7 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from behind the arc.
Shackleford follows, averaging 8.5 points per game. Fellow forward,
Jazmyn Wheeler (Winfield, W. Va.) collects 6.7 points per game this season. Shackleford grabs 5.0 rebounds per game, and recorded a career high of seven at Tiffin on Saturday.
As a team, the Black and Gold are shooting 42.8 percent from the field while averaging 60.1 points per game. They are shooting 28.9 percent from behind the arc and 74.0 percent from the charity stripe.
About Central State
The Marauders enter Alumni Hall on Tuesday evening with a 3-6 overall record and a 2-2 record in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. CSU last played the opening weekend of December, picking up consecutive home wins against Benedict College and Allen University.
Junior, Abbigail Peterson leads the way for Central State, averaging 12.1 points per game. The guard is shooting 30.0 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from the three point line. Following her is Naomi Shorts with 9.6 points per game and Dashanti Miller with 9.4 points per game.
Miller leads the way on the glass, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game, with Shorts grabbing 4.1 boards per game. As the senior point guard, Shorts has dished out a team high of 26 assists and has snagged 16 steals this winter.
As a team, the Maroon and Gold are averaging 70.0 points per game while shooting 31.9 percent from the field and averaging 47.1 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game. The Panthers and the Marauders have not met in the Division II Era yet but have faced off five times in the past.
The first meeting between the two came during the 1980-81 season with ODU picking up a 66-62 win in Columbus. The two last met during the 2009-10 season with Ohio Dominican sweeping Central State that winter. The Black and Gold are 3-2 against the Maroon and Gold and have a 2-1 record when in Columbus.
About West Liberty
The Hilltoppers enter this week with a 5-4 overall record and a 3-2 record in the Mountain East Conference. Before heading to Sunbury Road on Thursday, West Liberty will take on fellow G-MAC program, Walsh University, on Tuesday afternoon in North Canton.
Three different players average double figure points with Corinne Thomas leading them all, averaging 17.9 points per game. Following her is Karly McCutcheon with 12.9 points per game and Bailee Smith with 11.7 points per game.
Down low, senior Jenna Riccardo averages a team high of 5.3 rebounds per game. Thomas joins her, averaging 5.1 boards while McCutcheon grabs 5.0 rebounds per game.
As a team, the Hilltoppers average 74.0 points per game while shooting 37.9 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from the three point line. ODU and WLU have played four times and Ohio Dominican leads the all-time series with a 3-1 record. The Panthers are undefeated, 2-0, when hosting West Liberty inside Alumni Hall.
About Dayton
The Flyers are 5-5 on the season and 0-1 in the Atlantic 10 conference. UD most recently defeated MAC institution. Miami (Ohio), on the road, 73-60. Dayton will have the week off as they await to host the Panthers on Sunday afternoon.
Guards, Ivy Wolf and Destiny Bohanon, lead the way for the Flyers, averaging 11.5 and 11.2 points per game this winter thus far. Wolf dishes out a team high of 3.5 assists per game as Bohanon leads the team from the charity stripe, shooting 85.0 percent.
Columbus native, Arianna Smith, is a force on the glass, snagging 11.3 rebounds per game. The forward averages 9.3 points and 1.7 assists per game as well. Through nine games, Smith is shooting a team high of 59.7 percent from the field.
As a team, the Flyers average 67.9 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from behind the arc. The two have met three times, dating back to the 1975-76 inaugural season for the Panthers. The Flyers are 3-0 with a 2-0 record on their home court.

Tipoff is set for 5:00 PM on Tuesday against Central State. Action will continue on Thursday at 5:30 PM against the Hilltoppers. The Black and Gold will wrap up their week inside UD Arena on Sunday afternoon at noon.
